Pearl May Studio is New York City’s luxury real estate photography studio, built on the

belief that exceptional imagery doesn’t just show a property, it sells a life.

Since 2014, we have partnered with the city’s most respected agents, teams, and

developers to create photography and visual content that moves people emotionally and

literally. Our work has been trusted by some of New York’s most recognized names in real

estate, including Compass, Sotheby’s International Realty, Serhant, Corcoran, and Nest

Seekers amongst others.

The eye behind the studio

​

May grew up moving, a childhood spent across different apartments and cities. And yet, home was always the thing that mattered most. Not a specific

address, but a feeling. The warmth of a space that wraps around you the moment you walk

in. The kind of space a friend has where you lose track of time because lit feels like home.

That sensitivity to surroundings, to what makes a place feel alive and welcoming, became the

lens through which May would eventually see everything.

The first time May walked the streets of New York City, something unexpected happened. It

felt like home. Not familiar, not recognizable — just undeniably right. That instinct led to a

life built in the city, beginning with a career in real estate. Starting in Brooklyn, May was

the sole agent for a management company, running bidding wars with zero competition and a natural gift for understanding what people wanted in a space.

But real estate, as good as it was, wasn’t fully right. After completing a Master’s

in Contemporary Art in London, May returned to New York and stepped back into the

industry, this time in Manhattan, where the market was a different beast entirely.

Then came the moment everything changed.

A listing needed to be photographed. May hired a photographer, watched the process

unfold, and thought — wait. I can do that.

That instinct was right. Pearl May Studio was born from that single moment of clarity, a

photographer who had spent a lifetime understanding what makes a space feel like home,

finally with the perfect way to show it.

How we see it

​

We’ve always believed that the best spaces have something intangible,  a quality that

makes you want to stay. Our job is to find that quality in every property we shoot and make

sure it comes through in every image.

​

New York City buyers are sophisticated. They’ve seen hundreds of listings. They know the

difference between a photograph taken to document and a photograph taken to compel.

 

We work in the space between those two things, technically precise, but emotionally

driven. Every shoot begins with an understanding of the property, the market, and the story

the agent or developer needs to tell. From there, we let the space guide us.

trained to Pearl May’s standard- vetted, experienced, and fluent in the specific demands of
